Project ROBG-476 “Danube River with a Very Common History” started its implementation on 07.09.2018. It was selected in the framework of the third call for proposals of Integra V-A Romania-Bulgaria 2014-2020. It is a direct continuation and upgrade of the achievements of the Danube River with a lot of history ROBG-6. The project has an implementation period of 18 months.

A project partnership involves two partners:
Leading beneficiary of the Open Palm Foundation, Bulgaria, Pleven and
Partner 2: Teleorman County Museum, Alexandria, Romania.

Priority axis output indicators:

Number of integrated tourist products / services created;
Number of common valorisation strategies, policies or plans (including awareness raising) for cultural and natural heritage through its restoration and promotion for sustainable economic use;

Priority axis result indicators:

Number of tourists staying overnight in the Cross-border region;
Natura 2000 sites in the cross-border area with coordinated management tools.

Specific objective 2.1: Improve the sustainable use of resources and the natural and cultural heritage.

Main goal of the project:

Improvement of sustainable development, protection, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and improvement of socio-economic situation in the Eligible area, through the implementation of innovative and long-term measures and activities.

Specific objectives of the project:

Carrying out research on sites, part of the cultural and historical heritage with a common history in the region;
Developing a joint copyright strategy for the protection, development, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage;
Elaboration of unique and unique small-volume models of part of the cultural and historical heritage with common history between the countries located on both sides along the Danube River;
Digitization of the studied sites, part of the cultural and historical heritage in the region;
Creating Android® and iOS® applications with information about the objects studied;
Creation of two integrated tourism products;
Raising the awareness and popularization of the cross-border region about cultural and historical sites located in southern Romania and northern Bulgaria, increasing the tourist flow and the number of nights in the region through the implementation of innovative and long-term measures and activities;
Other concomitants.

Main project activities:

Preparation of the project proposal;
Setting up a joint project management committee;
Project administration and management;
Information and publicity:

– Development and dissemination of information and promotional materials;
– Press conferences and media campaign including radio and television broadcasts;
– Creating a website;
– Development of mobile applications for Android and IOS containing detailed information about the cross-border area and cultural and historical sites located in its territory. For each of the studied sites there will be a detailed road map and GPS coordinates for its location;
– Production and distribution of a bilingual documentary.

Determination and study of 18 pcs. sites with common history, part of the cultural and historical heritage of the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania, proportionally divided by 9 per country and development of a joint author’s strategy for the protection, development, preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage. The activity will be carried out by a joint team of historians from Bulgaria and Romania under the direction of the director of the Regional History Museum Pleven;
Digitize the studied 18 pcs. object and create their 360 ° images. This will preserve, preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the region for centuries to come in a new way. A new type of digital tourism and a modern scientific product will be created, with access and distribution in a digital environment from anywhere and at any time;
Production of 18 pcs. reduced spatial models of objects with a common history between the countries and part of their cultural and historical heritage;
Carrying out 8 pcs. project exhibitions. The exhibitions will be proportionally divided into 4 in the territory of Northern Bulgaria and 4 in the territory of Southern Romania, with a duration of not less than 7 days each. The planned number of visitors for the eight exhibitions is at least 11,000 people.

Expected project results:

18 sites of common history, part of the cultural and historical heritage of the Eligible Zone, were studied;

Digitization of the studied 18 sites with common history;

Developed 1 joint strategy for protection, development, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage;

Made 18 pcs. realistic 3D models of the objects studied;

Conducted 8 pcs. exhibitions on the territory of the Eligible Zone;

Extensive information campaign conducted in accordance with the requirements of the EU Regulations and in accordance with the Visual Identity Manual of the Program in order to inform the community about the existing cultural heritage in the region, its promotion, preservation, preservation and development with an expected number of end users over 100 000 souls;

2 joint integrated tourist product / service developed;

Created a new kind of digital tourism;

Upgrading and expanding the scope of the Danube River with a lot of history, ROBG-6;

Increase of nights in the Cross-border region by 80 persons.

Increase the number of visitors to the 110 sites supported by the project.
